In the Holloway Bar back yard, next to the old transport container that serves as a shop, the old motor is cut from Emma's frame. The existing 50 horsepower motor was too heavy for one person to move alone, so it was lifted out of her resting place in the frame by the hoe and placed gently on the ground.
She'll be cleaned up a bit and all her parts kept intact wherever possible to make life a bit easier for her new owner.
But, before the new motor can be installed, the frame will have to be modified to fit the much larger engine and motor mounts need to be fabricated. This involved a lot a measuring and even the use of some cardboard templates, cut out to help fit the metal.
This all has to be done outside in the elements - there's no indoor shop here. This also means you're outside with the famous northern mosquitos. To help protect the Holloway Bar guard dog from the hordes of blood-sucking flies, Scott took the time to build a little temporary bug shelter under the hoe.
This is a custom job. Even if there was a local auto parts store (remember, we're almost two hours away from the nearest small town), you'd never find the parts to adapt this motor to this frame. So, once the motor mounts have been designed, cut, shaped, fit, and modified some more, the motor is finally ready to pick up and set in the newly modified frame.
