Camera 3 was our first remotely-controllable camera and has been online since the beginning. It's generally aimed at The Wizard gold plant and often catches the placer mining operations throughout the mining season.
Camera 3 has a front-row seat to view the ongoing mining operations.
The first step to placer mining is to start up the water pump and all of the equipment.
When the pump is first started, the water flowing through is clean and clear.
Once the ore is dumped into the top, the water turns to dirty brown.
Scott climbs the plant occasionally to make sure no large rocks are hung up in the grizzly.
Testing by panning is often done after shutdown to make sure the raw ore is good material.
