Two Moose
April 3, 2006
This moose cow and calf seem to be surviving the winter well...  The weather's been fairly mild and the snow not too terribly deep, so life isn't necessarily easy for the wildlife, but it is a little more survivable than usual.

The contrasts in this picture highlight the lack of colours seen during a northern winter.  Various shades of white and black abound, with only small patches of browns and greens.

Winter on Holloway Bar replaces the flurry of activity that comes with placer mining with the solitude and silence brought by the winter snows.  One thing that visitors to the north never seem to forget is the dark blue sky that is often seen on clear winter days, as you can clearly see here.
Too Early
April 24, 2006
The 2nd North Fork Creek waterfall is just above McDame Creek on the Holloway Bar property.  The skiff of snow in this photo from last November highlights the darker rocks which are actually an outcrop of low-grade coal.  Many minerals other than gold are found in the area; remember, the Cassiar mine was located just a few kilometers from this location!
