Gold's almost at $660 US this morning, the snow is starting to melt in the North, and our online store is now officially open, so what a better way to start off May and the 2006 mining season with a photo of some of previous year's treasures!  Highlighted here among the mineral samples and vials of processed and unprocessed gold are our gift boxes, available in the store!

It's May - the snow is melting, but the lakes are still frozen in the North.  It's always a guessing game to try to figure out if these dark clouds off in the distance are packing more snow to extend the winter (non-mining!) season a bit more, or if they're packing a load of warmish rain that will knock the snow down very quickly!

Let's have a party - this little fellow just had his 1st birthday this spring! While out on road duty last week, Scott came across one of last year's lambs at Sheephorn Creek, just south of Good Hope Lake about 10 km from Holloway Bar.  This is one of the few places outside of the Banff  National Park in the rockies that you can see sheep this close on a regular basis.  You can see more Dall Sheep pictures in our Pictures and Stories section.

If you're a frequent visitor to hollowaybar.com, you've probably been wondering what happened to the "photo of the week" on Monday.  We just took this photo at the mine, but couldn't get to an Internet connection to upload it until now.  Here you can see Camera 3 - the MineCam - that we spent the weekend setting up and installing on Holloway Bar.  The wireless network and three webcams are now installed and being tested, and the satellite Internet connection needed to complete the project should be coming in the next couple of weeks.

Waterline Slide
May 29, 2006
This is the time of year when we move onto the gold property for the summer and get camp up and running.  Once the snow has melted enough in the hills above camp, a trip up the waterline trail is necessary to get things hooked up and the water flowing to spin the power turbine.  If you're lucky, the line's survived the winter well - otherwise you'll probably have repairs to do.  We got lucky this time - the line was partially covered by a snow slide, but it wasn't broken so the system came online fairly quickly.  See The Waterline Project for more information about the environmentally-friendly camp power system.
